The most luxurious Melbourne hotel on the West Coast has sold out.
The West Coast Resort has sold its flagship suite for a whopping $1.9 million and is now available to stay with two other rooms for $1,650 a night.
It is the most expensive luxury accommodation on the entire Melbourne peninsula, according to the Hotels Review.
Its predecessor, the Westcrest Hotel, sold out in two days in May last year.
Melbourne City Council has a $5.6 billion casino licence that entitles it to charge $30 per night in taxes and fees.
This has been used to pay for more than $50 million worth of upgrades to the Westshore Casino in 2015, the council said in a statement.
Cities in the state’s south-east have been forced to make major changes to their public transport systems, including the closure of the Gold Coast Expressway.
Victoria’s south and south-west are also facing significant pressures from a looming flood, with residents being forced to relocate to higher ground.
In 2016, a wave inundated the city of Port Augusta, leaving more than 40,000 people homeless.
On Saturday, the city announced it had paid $2.2 million in relief and rehabilitation payments to a group of residents affected by the storm.
A $6 million fund to provide help to vulnerable residents will be released to the public.
Meanwhile, in Queensland, the Sunshine Coast will hold its annual flood event at the Goldfields Resort.
